Garage Project TINY But Mighty - Stout

This non-alcoholic English Porter delivers a surprisingly robust sensory profile despite its diminutive alcohol content. Aromas of toasted biscuit and smooth milk chocolate lead the way, supported by a gentle earthy hop presence. On the palate, a layered malt foundation offers notes of caramel, toffee, and a mild coffee-like roast that avoids any burnt harshness. The body remains nimble yet carries a creamy texture, ensuring a satisfyingly smooth finish. Garage Project manages to retain the essential roasty soul of a classic stout within this ultra-low alcohol framework, providing a flavorful, all-day option that captures the smooth malt character of the style.
Appearance. Deep brown in color with noticeable ruby highlights when held to the light. It presents a moderate, creamy tan head with good retention and light lacing; clarity is good, though the depth of color makes it nearly opaque.
Aroma. Moderate intensity featuring bready and toasty malt notes with a clear chocolate roast character. Subtle layers of caramel and toffee provide sweetness, complemented by a low earthy hop aroma and very faint fruity esters.
Taste. Initial impression is of smooth, toasted malt. Flavors of milk chocolate and light-roast coffee are prominent, balanced by a medium-low bitterness and a gentle caramel sweetness. Earthy hop flavors are minimal. The finish is clean and slightly sweet, with a lingering nutty malt aftertaste and no harsh roasted grain character.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with moderate carbonation. It possesses a light creamy texture that prevents it from feeling thin, despite the lack of alcohol. There is no alcohol warmth and zero astringency.

When we started out we were tiny. Garage Project wasn't even micro brewing… it was a truly nano brewery.
After nine years of working in breweries with equipment 100 times bigger it was quite a change to downsize to a fifty litre brew kit. But what we lacked in size we more than made up for in agility and the ability to experiment.
When you’re brewing on such a small scale you can afford to take risks. That suited us. We wanted to try something new.
Five years have passed and we’ve grown, but that same ethos still shapes how we do things at the Garage. Whether we’re brewing 50 litres or 2000, we’re still here to take some risks, to have a bit of fun and to try something new.
Way back in the day, when we were just starting out, we wrote a little blurb about each other to shed some light on who we are, and what lead us down the path of starting a brewery in Wellington, (if you’ve ever written your own bio, you’ll know how hard it can be!).
