This refreshing Berliner Weisse showcases a bright, lactic tartness seamlessly integrated with the vibrant essence of ripe cherries. The aroma opens with a sharp, clean acidity, reminiscent of lemon zest and tart red fruit, backed by a subtle sourdough breadiness from the wheat malt. On the palate, a lively cherry flavor takes center stage, balancing the crisp, puckering sourness without adding heavy sweetness. Highly effervescent and light-bodied, it finishes bone-dry with a lingering hint of stone fruit pits and floral yeast notes, making for an exceptionally quaffable and invigorating fruit-forward sour ale.
Appearance. Vibrant pink to light red (3–6 SRM). Pours with a voluminous but short-lived white to pink-tinged head; clarity ranges from clear to a slight fruit-induced haze. Highly effervescent.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Dominant sharp lactic sourness and bright, authentic cherry notes. Beneath the fruit lies a faint grainy, raw bread dough character from the wheat malt. No hop aroma. Subtle floral esters and a hint of tart red apple.
Taste. Initial impression is a clean, puckering lactic acidity. Flavor is defined by tart cherries and a light, doughy wheat backbone. Zero hop bitterness; balance is driven entirely by acidity. The finish is bone-dry and crisp with a lingering cherry skin and lemon-like aftertaste. No vinegary or harsh notes.
Mouthfeel. Light body, but maintains a soft texture from the wheat. Very high carbonation providing a prickly, refreshing sensation. No alcohol warmth. Sharp, crisp acidity without being astringent.
