Gone Bowling is a vibrant Double IPA that showcases an intricate blend of Southern Hemisphere and Pacific Northwest hops. The profile is led by the intense citrus and tropical punch of Citra BBC, layered with the distinct white wine and gooseberry notes of Nelson. Rakau adds a fleshy stone fruit depth, while Motueka contributes a bright lime zest sparkle. The beer maintains a lean, neutral malt backbone that allows the hop saturation to remain the focal point. Expect a clean fermentation profile, a firm but smooth bitterness, and a hint of warming alcohol that complements the overall sensory intensity.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (8 SRM) with a slight modern haze. Pours with a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head that leaves consistent lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring a complex mélange of passion fruit, gooseberry, and crushed white grapes. Strong citrus notes of lime and grapefruit follow. Malt is very low and neutral, providing a light grainy support. Clean fermentation with no notable esters.
Taste. Initial hop-forward impact of tropical fruit and apricot, transitioning into a drying mid-palate of resinous pine and citrus peel. Bitterness is high but well-sculpted, lacking harshness. The malt provides a soft, bready foundation without heavy residual sweetness. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering aftertaste of lime zest and white grape.
