Emperor’s Brewery

This formidable Imperial Stout commands the glass with an opaque, midnight-black presence. A luxurious sensory experience unfolds through the infusion of lavish Guatemalan coffee and lush, sweet coconut. The aroma is intensely complex, layering notes of dark chocolate and toasted coconut over a deep base of roasted malts. On the palate, a velvety, full-bodied texture carries flavors of bittersweet cocoa, rich espresso, and tropical sweetness, balanced by a firm roast bitterness. At 12.6% ABV, a smooth, integrated alcohol warmth lingers in the finish, complementing the decadent, dark fruit esters and creamy mouthfeel of this interstellar powerhouse.

Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque. Pours with a dense, deep tan head that shows moderate retention. High viscosity is evident as thick legs cling to the sides of the glass when swirled.

Aroma. High intensity. A rich, complex blend of roasted grains, specifically dark chocolate and heavy roast, seamlessly integrated with the pungent, earthy aroma of Guatemalan coffee. Pronounced sweet coconut provides a tropical top note, supported by moderate esters of dried plums and raisins. Subtle alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated.

Taste. Intensely flavored and complex. Initial impressions of bittersweet chocolate and toasted malt lead into a mid-palate dominated by rich coffee and sweet, creamy coconut. Hop bitterness is moderate to firm, providing essential balance against the high gravity and adjunct sweetness. The finish is long and warming with lingering notes of dark-roasted grain and cocoa.

Mouthfeel. Very full-bodied and chewy with a velvety, luscious, and almost oily texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. A noticeable, gentle alcohol warmth is present, reflecting the 12.6% strength without being harsh or solventy.
