This collaboration between Cloudwater and Uchu Brewing reimagines the Double IPA through a lens of saturated hop intensity and textural luxury. Utilizing Japanese 'Limit Break' techniques, the profile is defined by a massive addition of oats, which translates into a lusciously creamy and dense mouthfeel. Expect a sensory explosion of tropical fruit, citrus, and stone fruit aromas that dominate the experience. The palate is supremely juicy, balancing a firm but smooth bitterness against a clean, supportive malt base. At 8% ABV, the alcohol is expertly integrated, providing a gentle warmth that complements the soft character and lingering fruit-forward finish.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper (7-9 SRM). Noticeable haze from the high oat content. Large, persistent, creamy white head with dense lacing.
Aroma. Intense, pungent hop aroma featuring overripe mango, passion fruit, and bright tangerine. Background notes of soft, grainy malt and a hint of sweet oats. Clean fermentation with a subtle, smooth alcohol presence and no fusels.
Taste. High-intensity tropical and citrus hop flavors dominate. An initial burst of pineapple and peach leads into a firm, moderately high bitterness that remains smooth rather than harsh. The malt character is soft and supportive, highlighting the grainy sweetness of oats. Finishes medium-dry with a long, resinous, and fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notably creamy, velvety texture. Moderate carbonation. Smooth, well-integrated alcohol warmth with no hop-derived astringency.
