Cierzo Citra
Cierzo Citra is a vibrant American IPA that serves as a focused showcase for the Citra hop variety. Pouring a brilliant gold, it immediately releases a powerful aromatic explosion of tropical and citrus notes, prominently featuring ripe mango, fresh pineapple, and zesty lime. The sensory experience is defined by these bold fruit characteristics, supported by a clean, subtle grainy malt backbone that ensures the hops remain the central focus. On the palate, an intense yet refined bitterness balances the juicy fruit flavors, leading toward a crisp, dry finish. This medal-winning ale captures the quintessential West Coast spirit with its high drinkability and bright, hop-forward profile.
Appearance. Medium gold to light amber in color (6–8 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a slight haze acceptable; features a medium-sized, persistent white head with good lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward aroma featuring prominent Citra characteristics of mango, pineapple, and grapefruit. Supported by low, clean, grainy maltiness and a neutral fermentation profile with very low fruity esters.
Taste. High hop flavor consistent with aroma, showcasing tropical fruit and citrus zest. Medium-high to high bitterness is firm but clean. Low grainy-sweet malt provides a supportive background without caramel interference. Finishes dry to medium-dry with a lingering, hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, non-astringent texture. Medium-high carbonation provides a lively mouthfeel. A very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present without harshness.
