This Imperial Stout offers a decadent sensory journey, defined by its maturation in Scotch barrels and a complex dessert profile. The initial impact is a rich wave of dark chocolate from cocoa nibs, immediately followed by the distinct, creamy aroma of peanut butter and buttery biscuit malt. Vanilla beans provide a floral sweetness that melds with the lactose to create a sundae-like richness. The barrel influence introduces sophisticated notes of peaty whisky and toasted oak, cutting through the intense sweetness. Velvety and viscous, it balances deep roasted grains with a lingering, spirit-forward warmth that defines its powerful, indulgent character.

Appearance. SRM 40+; jet black and completely opaque. A thick, creamy, deep tan head provides moderate retention with significant oily lacing and visible legs due to the high alcohol concentration and viscosity.

Aroma. High intensity. Dominant notes of dark chocolate, roasted peanuts, and sweet vanilla beans. The Scotch barrel aging adds a layer of smoky peat, heather honey, and toasted oak. Background notes of dark fruit like raisins meld with a sweet, milky character from the lactose.

Taste. Initial impression is dessert-sweet and highly complex. Intense flavors of cocoa, nutty peanut butter, and digestive biscuit transition into a mid-palate of creamy vanilla. The finish is long and warming, featuring smoky Scotch whisky and moderate hop bitterness that balances the lactose. Roasted malt provides a consistent coffee-like backbone.

Mouthfeel. Full, viscous, and exceptionally chewy body with a velvety, luscious texture enhanced by lactose. Carbonation is low to moderate. A significant, smooth alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, matching the strength of the beer.
