Brujos Brewing Cuernitos
Cuernitos is a modern American Pale Ale that leans into the crisp, refreshing character of the West Coast style. The aromatic profile is dominated by a double dry-hopped punch of Simcoe, Mosaic, and Citra, delivering layers of bright grapefruit, resinous pine, and ripe tropical berries. Visually brilliant with a pale gold hue, the palate follows with a lean, cracker-like malt base that allows the hop bitterness to shine without being overwhelming. The finish is remarkably clean and dry, showcasing the classic piney snap of Simcoe and the citrus zest of Citra, making for a highly drinkable and vibrant sensory experience.
Appearance. Pale golden (6 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a moderately large, white, persistent head that leaves fine lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of grapefruit and lime zest from Citra, supported by the resinous pine of Simcoe and a distinct blueberry and tropical fruit note from Mosaic. Low, neutral grainy maltiness provides a clean background. Esters are very low.
Taste. Initial impression is bright citrus and pine. Moderate-high bitterness is firm but smooth. Malt flavors are low and cracker-like, providing a subtle foundation for the Simcoe-driven earthy pine and Mosaic berry complexity. The balance is decisively hop-forward. Finish is dry and clean with a lingering citrus peel and resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body. Moderate to high carbonation provides a crisp, refreshing snap. Light alcohol warmth. Very smooth without any detectable hop astringency.
