This massive Imperial Stout emerges from its whisky cask slumber with an opaque, midnight-black presence. The influence of Munich and Dark Crystal malts provides a robust backbone of bittersweet chocolate and deep caramel, while the maturation in Compass Box barrels imparts a shadowy wisp of peat smoke. Columbus and First Gold hops contribute a firm bitterness that anchors the intense roasty character, subtly accented by the spicy, floral notes of Saaz. A distinctive layer of orange oil complexity threads through the finish, brightening the dense, velvety texture and balancing the powerful warmth of this 15% ABV powerhouse.
