La brasserie se trouve au coeur d’un charmant village des Flandres, à 20 km de Dunkerque. Les bâtiments d’origine sont ceux de l’ancienne ferme-brasserie Poidevin, en activité jusqu’en 1945. Après avoir hébergé 5 brasseries (et plusieurs dizaines d’estaminets), le village d’Esquelbecq ne produira plus de bière pendant près d’un demi-siècle.
En 1996, Daniel Thiriez décide de s’y installer. La Braserie Thiriez est créée avec une salle de brassage de 6 hectolitres de marque Velo. La salle de dégustation est aménagée dans une aile de l’ancienne ferme. Les premiers brassins sont commercialisés en janvier 1997.

La fábrica de cerveza se encuentra en el corazón de un encantador pueblo de Flandes , a 20 km de Dunkerque. Los edificios originales son los de la antigua granja - cervecería Poidevin, en funcionamiento hasta 1945. Después de recibir cinco fábricas de cerveza (y decenas de pubs ), el pueblo de Esquelbecq producirá más cerveza que en casi medio siglo .
En 1996 , Daniel Thiriez decidió instalarse allí. El Braserie Thiriez se crea con una sala de cocción 6 hectolitros de marca Velo. La sala de degustación está ubicado en un ala de la antigua granja. Las primeras cervezas se vendieron en enero de 1997 .
