This massive Imperial Stout presents an opulent sensory journey, shaped by a year of maturation in rye whiskey barrels. The aroma is an intense layering of dark chocolate, spicy rye grain, and charred oak, with a whisper of salted cocoa. On the palate, decadent waves of bittersweet chocolate and fudge are punctuated by a savory hint of salt, which enhances the perception of roast and dark fruit. The rye whiskey influence adds a complex spice and refined warmth, cutting through the dense, velvety body. It finishes with a harmonious blend of espresso-like bitterness, lingering vanilla, and a sophisticated, spirited heat.

Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (40+ SRM). It features a dense, creamy, dark tan head with moderate retention and leaves thick, oily legs on the glass due to high viscosity and alcohol content.

Aroma. High intensity with a rich blend of roasted coffee and bittersweet chocolate. The rye whiskey barrel aging introduces distinct notes of spicy grain, toasted oak, and vanilla. Low esters of plum and raisin are present, alongside a subtle, savory cocoa note from the salted chocolate addition.

Taste. Initial impression is of intense dark chocolate and espresso-like roast. The mid-palate reveals spicy rye whiskey character, oak tannins, and a unique savory note from the salt that heightens the chocolate sweetness. Bitterness is moderate to firm but balanced by a massive malt backbone. The finish is lingering with dark fruit, cocoa, and smooth alcohol warmth.

Mouthfeel. Full to very full-bodied and chewy with a luscious, velvety texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. There is a significant, smooth alcohol warmth that is well-integrated and never harsh or solventy.
