Against the Atom is an indulgent Imperial Stout that presents a deep, layered sensory experience born from its 12% ABV and decadent additions. The aroma is dominated by roasted peanuts and bittersweet cocoa nibs, underpinned by a luxurious thread of creamy vanilla. On the palate, intense flavors of dark chocolate and espresso meld with the savory-sweet character of the peanuts, while subtle dark fruit esters provide a complex counterpoint. The mouthfeel is exceptionally full and velvety, offering a comforting alcohol warmth that lingers alongside a bittersweet finish. This collaboration showcases a harmonious balance between robust roasted malts and dessert-like elements.

Appearance. SRM 40+; jet black and opaque. Features a dense, dark tan head with moderate retention and visible legs/tears on the glass due to high alcohol and viscosity.

Aroma. High intensity with pronounced roasted peanut and rich cocoa nib character supported by sweet vanilla. Deep malt notes of dark chocolate, espresso, and black licorice are present alongside low dark fruit esters resembling raisins. Alcohol is noticeable but smooth.

Taste. Initial impression of rich, bittersweet chocolate and savory peanuts. The malt profile includes burnt grain, coffee, and toast, while vanilla adds a smoothing sweetness. Moderate-high bitterness and 12% alcohol are balanced by the high residual extract. Low hop flavor. The finish is long and lingering with roast and a nutty aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Very full-bodied, thick, and chewy with a velvety, luscious texture. Strong alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated. Low to moderate carbonation.
