Biere Du Corsaire is an expressive Belgian Golden Strong Ale from Brouwerij Huyghe, characterized by its remarkable effervescence and deceptive lightness. The sensory experience begins with a vigorous, rocky white head that carries an intense bouquet of pear-like pome fruit esters and peppery phenols. A clean Pilsner malt foundation provides a brief, grainy sweetness before being overtaken by herbal hop notes and a crisp, dry finish. Despite its potent 9.4% ABV, the alcohol is masterfully integrated, providing a smooth, perfumy warmth rather than a harsh burn. Appearance. Deep gold color (approx. 5-6 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Features a massive, long-lasting, rocky white head that leaves characteristic Belgian lacing on the glass as it slowly recedes.

Aroma. High intensity featuring complex fruity esters of pear and apple. Moderate herbal and floral hop character is supported by low, peppery phenols and a soft, perfumy alcohol presence. Malt is nearly neutral with a light, grainy-sweet quality.

Taste. Initial soft malty sweetness quickly transitions to dominant pear-like fruitiness and spicy, peppery alcohol. Moderate herbal hop flavor is present. Bitterness is medium-high, appearing firm due to the highly attenuated, very dry finish. The aftertaste is long and lingering with a touch of hop character.

Mouthfeel. Medium-light body that feels lighter than the gravity suggests. Very high carbonation creates a sparkling, effervescent sensation on the tongue. Alcohol warmth is noticeable but smooth and well-integrated.
