5.3%abv - 500ml Bottle - £4.00 The Bexley Brewery Spike Island is a dry stout with burnt caramel, coffee, chocolate & liquorice notes. ‘Spike Island’ refers to an area in Northumberland Heath which had several Victorian workhouses.‘Spikes’ were the nicknames for workhouses (due to the spikes on the railings around them) and because they were near each other, the area was known as ‘Spike Island’. Their journey started out as home brewers, In 2014 they stepped up and invested in a 6 barrel brewery kit and brought a brewery back to Bexley. The last brewery, The Reffells having closed down in 1956. Cliff, Jane & Cameron, along with the little green Bexley birds are proud to produce exceptional session, seasonal and occasional beers, in cask, keg and bottle from their family micro brewery based in Erith.
