Basqueland Brewing

Basqueland Summertime is a refreshing, contemporary take on the American IPA, crafted for high sessionability. A vibrant haze sets the stage for an explosive bouquet of tropical fruit, driven by a heavy-handed dry-hop of Mosaic, Citra, and Motueka. The Mosaic Cryo enhances the aromatic intensity, delivering concentrated notes of mango and blueberry, while the Motueka adds a distinctive lime zest sparkle. Despite its lighter 5.2% frame, it maintains a juicy hop presence and a clean, supporting malt profile. A crisp bitterness provides a refreshing finish that invites another sip under the sun.

Appearance. Medium gold with a prominent, persistent haze and a medium-sized, frothy white head that exhibits good persistence and lacing.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of mango, passion fruit, and citrus from the Citra and Mosaic. A bright, lime-like accent from Motueka adds a fresh edge. Clean, low grainy maltiness supports the fruit-forward presentation.

Taste. Hop-forward flavors of tropical fruit and citrus dominate the initial impression. A medium-high bitterness is well-integrated, leading to a dry, crisp finish. Low grainy malt provides a subtle backbone, while the Mosaic Cryo imparts a lingering, resinous fruit aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, soft texture and no harshness. Carbonation is moderate-high, enhancing the refreshing character. Very low alcohol warmth.

Basqueland – Summertime. El proyecto Basqueland lo fundan 3 norteamericanos que desembarcaron en el País Vasco en tres oleadas. El primero en pisar tierras guipuzcoanas fue Kevin Patricio. Originario de Baltimore, después le siguió su amigo Benjamín Matz, maestro cervecero de una de las cunas del Craft Beer en EEUU , San Diego. El último de la tresena lo compone Benjamin Rozzi, se incorpora a instancias de Benjamín y Kevin para hacerse cargo de la parte comercial del proyecto. A partir de aquí los tres estrenaron fábrica propia en Hernani en el 2015.

El verano es una época muy propicia para las Session IPA s como esta. Con 5.2% es ligera y algo turbia, pero con mucho perfil tropical con Motueka, Citra y Cryo Mosaic. Un refrescante zumo de lúpulo veraniego.
