Celebrate Basqueland’s 9th anniversary with this vibrant Wild Specialty Beer, a collaboration with Ārpus Brewing. This pour captivates with a deep purple hue, leading into a sensory dance between tartness and juicy fruit. The use of Philly yeast provides a distinct, clean lactic sourness and subtle stone fruit esters that heighten the luscious expressions of blackberry and blueberry. It strikes a refreshing balance where the natural acidity of the fermentation tickles the palate, accentuating the jammy depth of the berries without overwhelming the senses. A bright, effervescent, and deeply fruity experience that remains crisp from start to finish.

Appearance. Striking deep purple to violet color with a hazy, nearly opaque body. Topped by a pinkish-tinted, fine-beaded head that shows moderate to low retention, typical of fruited sour styles.

Aroma. High intensity, dominated by jammy blackberry and tangy blueberry notes. The Philly yeast fermentation contributes a clean, sharp lactic acidity and underlying fruity esters reminiscent of peach or apricot. Very low malt presence; no hop aroma.

Taste. Bracing initial acidity that is clean and bright. Strong flavors of fresh blackberry and blueberry skins follow, providing a rich, authentic fruit profile. The finish is dry and tart with no detectable hop bitterness. A subtle bready malt note supports the fruit, but the focus remains on the refreshing interplay of acidity and berry character.

Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with high, prickly carbonation that enhances the tart sensation on the palate. Very low alcohol warmth at 5.7% ABV. A slight, pleasant tannin-like astringency from the fruit skins adds structure and contributes to the dry finish.
