This sophisticated Italian Grape Ale highlights the aromatic elegance of Malvasia grapes, masterfully bridging the gap between fine wine and craft beer. At 9% ABV, the sensory experience is led by an intense bouquet of ripe apricot, peach, and fragrant white flowers, characteristics inherent to the Malvasia variety. A supportive but restrained malt backbone offers hints of honey and toasted bread, providing a platform for the vinous, stone-fruit-forward profile to shine. The finish is remarkably dry and clean, with a gentle acidity and well-integrated alcohol warmth that ensures this complex ale remains refreshing and elegant on the palate.
Appearance. Deep amber to copper color (SRM 18) with brilliant clarity. Pours with a medium-low, off-white head that shows moderate retention and light lacing.
Aroma. High intensity with a dominant vinous character. Strong notes of Malvasia grapes featuring apricot, honey, and floral esters. Malt is low and bready, while hop aroma is absent to very low with faint earthy notes.
Taste. Initial impression is fruity and wine-like, featuring medium-high flavors of peach and tropical fruit from the grape must. Malt flavors are supportive and toasted, never roasted. Bitterness is low, allowing a light grape-derived acidity to balance the profile. The finish is dry with a lingering stone fruit aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with medium-high carbonation that enhances the aromatic perception. Noticeable, smooth alcohol warmth without being solventy. Very low astringency.
