BAPBAP Vermeil is a vibrant and effervescent Berliner Weisse that elevates the classic German wheat ale through the addition of fresh red currants. The visual impact of its bright pink hue sets the stage for a sensory experience defined by a clean, sharp lactic acidity and the distinctively tart, slightly tannic snap of the berries. Delicate bready notes from the wheat malt provide a soft foundation for the intense fruit character, while a high level of carbonation lifts the palate. Refreshing and light-bodied, it offers a crisp, bone-dry finish that beautifully highlights the interplay between citrusy fermentation esters and the piquant essence of the red currants.
Appearance. Vivid bright pink color; large, dense, light pinkish-white head with poor retention; somewhat hazy appearance with high effervescence.
Aroma. Moderately high intensity of sharp lactic sourness and piquant red currants. A light sourdough breadiness and raw wheat dough character support the fruit. Faint floral esters are present, while hop aroma is entirely absent.
Taste. Dominant clean lactic acidity paired with the tart, slightly tannic flavor of red currants. A noticeable bready and grainy wheat malt backbone balances the sourness. No hop flavor or bitterness; the balance is firmly acidic. Finishes very dry and crisp with a lingering berry tartness.
Mouthfeel. Light body with a crisp, refreshing mouthfeel. Very high carbonation creates a spritzy effervescence. No alcohol warmth. A slight tannic astringency from the fruit skins complements the sharp acidity.
