This Baltic Porter is a decadent, full-bodied experience that artfully balances traditional lager-driven smoothness with gourmand additions. The base offers an intense roasted character reminiscent of a high-end coffee roastery, layered with caramelized grains and deep licorice notes. Infusions of dark cacao and toasted coconut transform the profile into a complex dessert-like journey, presenting flavors of rich dark chocolate and creamy tropical nuttiness. At 9% ABV, a gentle, well-integrated alcohol warmth surfaces, complementing the dark fruit esters of plum and raisin. The finish is harmonious and lingering, maintaining a sophisticated balance between roasted bitterness and the sweet allure of cocoa.
Appearance. Opaque dark brown to intense black (30+ SRM). Crowned by a thick, persistent, and creamy tan-colored head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity with a rich maltiness featuring notes of deep toast, molasses, and licorice. Pronounced aromas of dark chocolate and toasted coconut are layered over complex esters of dried plums and cherries. Clean fermentation profile with no hop aroma.
Taste. Rich and malty initial impression followed by a complex blend of dark chocolate and toasted coconut. Deep malt flavors of caramel and toffee are balanced by a smooth, Schwarzbier-like roasted coffee character that avoids burnt harshness. Medium-low bitterness provides balance against the malt sweetness. The finish is full and lingering with notes of dried fruit and cocoa.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and smooth with a creamy, mouth-filling texture. Medium carbonation provides a lifted feel that prevents the beer from becoming heavy. Noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth.
