Sour Ale 5 º 10 IBU
Bacchus Frambozenbier presents a sophisticated marriage of a traditional Oud Bruin base with the vibrant essence of fresh raspberries. The visual of a deep reddish-brown pour topped with a thick, light beige head sets the stage for an enticing bouquet. High-intensity aromas of sweet raspberries dominate, underpinned by earthy yeast and a touch of caramel from the roasted malts. On the palate, a delicate balsamic-like acidity balances a rich, malty sweetness. The raspberry flavor is ripe and succulent, transitioning into a smooth finish where the fruit's sweetness lingers alongside a mild, refreshing sourness, perfectly capturing the classic sweet-and-sour profile.
Appearance. Dark reddish-brown to brown in color with good clarity. Features a thick, light beige head with average to good retention and lacing.
Aroma. High intensity of ripe, sweet raspberries layered over a medium malt presence of caramel and toasted bread. Subtle earthy yeast esters and a low, pleasant acetic note reminiscent of balsamic vinegar are present. Hop aroma is absent.
Taste. Initial impression is a vibrant burst of sweet raspberry fruit, quickly balanced by a medium-low, gentle sourness. The malt backbone provides flavors of dark caramel and a hint of roast. No hop flavor or perceptible bitterness. The finish is long and fruity, maintaining a sweet-and-sour balance where raspberry sweetness eventually gives way to a clean, mild acidity.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, somewhat creamy texture. Moderate to high carbonation provides a sparkling, lively sensation on the tongue. Alcohol warmth is light and well-integrated.
