This decadent celebratory Imperial Stout presents an intense, dessert-like experience, merging the robust character of a Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer with the indulgence of a pastry-inspired profile. A concentrated essence of fresh-pulled Espresso dominates the senses, interwoven with layers of dark chocolate and vanilla. The high alcohol content provides a luxurious, integrated warmth that carries through a viscous, velvety texture. Deeply roasted malts contribute notes of charred crust and molasses, balancing the significant residual sweetness. It is a bold, complex expression of craft, where the roasted bean aromatics harmonize with a thick, syrupy body to create a lingering, mocha-inflected finish.
Appearance. Opaque, midnight black (SRM 40+). Pours with a dense, persistent tan to mocha-colored head that leaves thick, oily lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity. Dominant freshly roasted espresso and dark cocoa. Secondary notes of vanilla bean, caramel, and dark fruits like raisins. Pronounced malt sweetness with a clean, warming alcohol presence. No hop aroma.
Taste. Initial impression is intensely sweet and rich. Deep espresso and bittersweet chocolate flavors lead, supported by a heavy malt backbone of toffee and toasted bread. The finish is long and sweet, with a lingering coffee roast and a gentle, spirit-like warmth. Hop bitterness is low, primarily providing enough structure to prevent cloying, while the espresso adds a perceived roasted bitterness.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and highly viscous, bordering on syrupy. Carbonation is low to moderate. Noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth. Extremely creamy and coating, with no significant astringency.
