Augustiner Weissbier
This classic Weissbier from Munich’s oldest brewery presents a luminous amber hue with a characteristic hazy glow. The sensory profile is defined by a traditional yeast-driven harmony of ripe banana and spicy clove, accented by a subtle touch of vanilla. On the palate, a foundation of soft, bready wheat malt and grainy Pilsner malt provides a round, medium-bodied structure. The low bitterness ensures the fruity esters and spicy phenols remain the focal point, while bottle conditioning imparts a lively, effervescent carbonation and a creamy, mousse-like foam. It finishes clean and refreshing with a fine, spicy linger.
Appearance. 4–6 SRM. Hazy, luminous amber to deep gold. Very thick, mousse-like, long-lasting white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity. Dominant esters of ripe banana and spicy clove phenols. Moderate bready, doughy wheat and grainy-sweet malt character. Subtle notes of vanilla; no hop aroma present.
Taste. Initial impression of soft, bready wheat and grainy Pilsner malt. Evolves into a well-balanced profile of banana and clove. Low bitterness with a well-rounded, flavorful palate. Finishes relatively dry and clean with a refreshing, spicy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a characteristic fluffy, creamy fullness. High carbonation provides an effervescent, spritzy finish. No astringency; low alcohol warmth.
