This American Stout offers a complex sensory tapestry, melding deep roasted grains with vibrant, fruit-forward additions. The foundation of dark chocolate and coffee malts is elevated by the inclusion of blueberries, which impart a subtle tartness and dark fruit depth. Coconut chips contribute a creamy, toasted sweetness that is further amplified by the unique aromatic profile of Sabro hops, which provide distinct notes of cream and cedar. Mosaic hops layer in ripe berries and tropical fruit, bridging the gap between the charred malt base and the adjuncts. The result is a bold, modern stout that balances assertive bitterness with a lush, multifaceted finish.
Appearance. Jet black and opaque with a large, persistent, tan-colored head that leaves thick lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity roast with notes of espresso and bittersweet chocolate. Prominent fruit-forward notes of fresh blueberries and tropical fruit, complemented by a distinct coconut and cedar hop character from the Sabro and Mosaic additions.
Taste. Initial impressions of roasted coffee and dark chocolate grains are followed by a surge of tart blueberry and sweet toasted coconut. The hop flavor is citrusy and tropical, supported by a firm bitterness. It finishes medium-dry with a lingering roasted malt and dark fruit character.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a creamy, smooth texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively lift that cuts through the roast. A light, pleasant alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated.
