Appearance. Jet black and opaque (SRM 40+). It pours with a thick, deep tan to mocha-colored head that shows moderate to low retention due to high viscosity, leaving oily legs on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity with a complex blend of spicy cinnamon, maple syrup, and buttery toffee. Deep roasted malt notes of espresso and bittersweet chocolate are present, alongside barrel-derived vanilla and charred oak. Subtle dark fruit esters like raisins emerge as the beer warms.
Taste. An initial explosion of maple glaze and sticky toffee sweetness is balanced by a mid-palate of roasted grain and dark chocolate. Cinnamon provides a spicy, drying counterpoint to the doughy donut flavors. Hop bitterness is low to moderate but mostly masked by the residual sugars.
