Amager Double Black Mash is an exceptionally viscous Imperial Stout, born from a double-mashing process that amplifies its deep, complex character. The intricate malt bill, featuring Roasted Barley, Light chocolate, and Black malt, delivers intense layers of bittersweet chocolate, espresso, and molasses. These dark tones are accented by a rich profile of dried fruits—raisins and figs—supported by a sturdy backbone of Münchener and Melanoidin malt. Cascade and Chinook hops provide a firm, resinous bitterness that balances the massive sweetness, while the US Ale yeast ensures a clean fermentation that lets the 12% ABV provide a smooth, velvety warmth.

Appearance. Jet black and fully opaque (40+ SRM). Pours with a dense, persistent deep tan to mocha head that leaves significant lacing. High viscosity is evident through thick legs on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity. Dominated by rich roasted grain, espresso, and dark chocolate. Prominent esters of prunes and black currants are present. A moderate resinous and piney hop aroma is detectable beneath the heavy malt layers. Clean fermentation with a noticeable but smooth alcohol presence.

Taste. Massive initial impact of charred roast, bittersweet cocoa, and burnt sugar. The mid-palate reveals complex layers of dried fruit and toasted bread. High bitterness is well-integrated, providing a necessary counterpoint to the thick malt sweetness. The finish is long and warming, transitioning from sweet molasses to a lingering, roasty bitterness.

Mouthfeel. Very full-bodied and chewy with a luscious, velvety, and almost oily texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. A significant, smooth alcohol warmth is present, reflecting the strength without being sharp or fusel.
