The complex grain bill, featuring Pilsner, Special B, and Chocolate malts, creates a deep, bready-toasty foundation layered with decadent caramel and dark fruit. Abbey IV Ale yeast provides a spicy, estery complexity of plums and figs, while Mandarina Bavaria and Columbus hops add a subtle citrus and herbal depth. The extended barrel aging infuses luxurious notes of vanilla and charred oak, resulting in a smooth, high-gravity masterpiece that balances intense malt richness with a refined, warming finish.
Appearance. Deep mahogany to coppery-brown (22 SRM). Dense, persistent light tan head with fine lacing; clear with a slight haze from extended aging.
Aroma. High intensity with rich, bready-toasty malt and dark caramel. Strong esters of raisins, prunes, and dried cherries. Notable bourbon-derived vanilla and oak with spicy black pepper phenols. Very light herbal hop character.
