And of the hops used in our brews, one third is of Belgian origin, and the average age was more than 15 years."

3 Fonteinen’s Golden Blend is a meticulously crafted Oude Geuze, born from a spontaneous secondary fermentation tradition in the Zenne Valley. It’s a barrel-aged blend drawing on lambics aged 1, 2, 3 years, plus at least 25–27% 4‑year‑old lambics, contributing depth and complexity.

B rewed with approximately 60% barley malt, 40% wheat, aged hops, and water, fermented naturally and matured in oak before being bottled unfiltered. Each blend variation is distinct—vintages depend on which barrels and brews are available, so no two releases are identical at around 6 % ABV, it offers a bright golden colour with a lively mousse. Aromatically and on the palate, expect tart orchard fruits (green apple, rhubarb), citrus zest, earthy barnyard funk, subtle wood tones, and a clean, dry finish. Versions that include some honey at blending add a delicate sweetness to balance the natural acidity.

This is a beer built for patience—cellaring it can further harmonise fruit, oak, and funk, with potential to age gracefully for decades.

you can enjoy it chilled, ideally in a tulip or goblet, as an aperitif or alongside tangy cheeses, charcuterie, seafood, or even citrus-based desserts. It’s both playful and refined—a living snapshot of Belgian lambic heritage.
