Black Iris Brewery Witching Hour

Back in July, we had the pleasure of hosting Alice and Michael from @thornbridge over to brew with us. It goes without saying that Thornbridge have had a huge influence on Black Iris, from drinking Jaipur growing up in Sheffield to watching them redefine the UK beer landscape over their currently 20 years in production. So it would be a little bit of an understatement to say we were pretty excited to have them over!! And here is what we’ve brewed up: Witching Hour 5.0% Dunkel ????♀️⏳????

This delicious dark lager starts with Munich malt as its base to establish a robust caramel beginning. From there we build the depth of flavour and colour with the addition of carared, chocolate malt and candi sugar for complex sweetness with notes of chestnuts. Hallertauer Mittlefruh brings the classic German noble hop characteristics of herbal spiciness and floral notes. Deep, complex and deceptively moreish. ????????????

Some fantastic artwork based on the folk story behind the Nine Ladies Stone circle based near Bakewell where Thornbridge brew. Accordingly to the story, nine ladies danced up on the moors on the sabbath and were turned to stone. ????♀️????????⏳????
