additional four years before releasing it.
It is a blend of one-, two- and three-year-old lambikken, originating from
five different barrels and six different brews. The oldest lambik was brewed
in April 2017. On the moment of the release, the weighted average age of this
blend will have reached 67 months, or more than five and a half years.
A true geuze, purely natural. Fully spontaneously fermented from brew to
bottle, unfiltered, unpasteurised.

This series of eight Spelingen van het Lot feature the ageing of the same lambikken on different wooden barrels. The lambikken come off two different brews, fully crafted with cereals sourced from our cereal collective and fully organic. The different wood types used are: American oak, German oak, acacia, the combination of German oak and acacia, chestnut, ash, cherry and mulberry. This bottle features the German oak and was handbottled on 510 bottles.

This particular tiny blend of Cuvée Armand & Gaston consists of 85% of two-year and three-year old lambics and 15% of jonge lambics. Hence a weighted average lambic age of more than 25 months.
We used lambics of three different barrels and five different brews. Of these brews, about one third contains our own and locally sourced cereals and one brew contains honey malt instead of the typical pils malt.

First is a Oude Geuze Cuvée Armand & Gaston, our geuze with 100% 3 Fonteinen brewed lambikken. For this specific blend, two of the lambikken used have aged on two sherry barrels that held Oloroso for more than 20 and 40 years, respectively.
The second bottle is a Druif Muscat Bleu. This grape lambik macerated for more than five months in a single oak foeder. Afterwards, we let it mature for an additional 16 months on a single sherry wine cask.
Next is the Aardbei, a strawberry lambik. For this tiny batch we macerated local hand-picked organic strawberries with two- and three-year-old lambik, afterwards we let it sit for almost another six months on a single barrel to further mature.
Another first for the US is our Rabarber, a rhubarb lambik. We macerated rhubarb from a local organic farm for almost five months on two-year old lambik.
This pack also includes a bottle of Oude Kriek; this sour cherry lambic had local honey added before bottling.
The last bottle is our Platinum blend, a blend of young and four-year old (!) all 3 Fonteinen-brewed lambikken. We also added honey from our own beehives, during blending.

Rooted in the village of Beersel in the Zenne Valley between Brussels and the Pajottenland, 3 Fonteinen has a firm belief of what lambic tradition looks like. That is why we steadfastly continue to create the finest authentic lambic beers – 100% spontaneous from brew to bottle – continuing with the same strict process and craftsmanship used by Gaston and Armand Debelder.
Family-owned with a team of 15 enthusiasts, we still brew in the village centre of Beersel while giving our barrels and bottles of geuze and fruit lambic time to develop in our warm room in Lot, a few kilometers away from the brewery.
