Seine schwarze Farbe, eine cremefarbene, feinporig und üppige Schaumkrone lässt bei jedem Stout-Liebhaber das Wasser im Mund zusammenlaufen. Der sehr cremige Geschmack nimmt den Mundraum voll für sich ein, aber auch die deutlichen Kaffee- und Bitterschokoladen Flavours, die feinen beerigen Noten und die dezenten bitteren Röstmalzaromen versprechen ein wunderbares und vielseitiges Geschmackserlebnis.

В забытых архивах знаменитой пивоварни Shepherd Neame, были найдены обветшавшие, но сохранившиеся рукописи. В них то и был найден старинный рецепт пива Double Stout. Основные ингредиенты, придающие пиву уникальные вкусовые особенности, это шоколадный солод и золотистый британский хмель East Kent Goldings (Ист Кент Голдингс). Процесс производства пива Double Stout, примечателен еще и тем, что пивовары Shepherd Neame используют Дубовые котлы, доставшиеся в наследство. Пиво Double Stout – великолепный образец классического двойного стаута. Он обладает сухим бархатным вкусом и необычно сильным ароматом с нотками молочного шоколада и кофе, которые проявляются из-за использования шоколадного солода, то есть солода, который обжигали до тех пор, пока он не становился цвета шоколада. Темное, кремовое пиво Double Stout обязательно оставит незабываемые впечатления. Тип: стаут (тёмное, фильтрованное) Крепость — 5,2%, Плотность — 13,0%, Емкость — 0,5 л стекло, Количество в упаковке —8 бут. Double Stout от знаменитой пивоварни SHEPHERD NEAME. Самые первые упоминания о пивоварне из местечка Faversham в графстве Kent , ведут к 1147 году. Тогда в этом месте было основано аббатство. При нем был варочный цех, в котором и варили пиво для монахов. А вот официальная история пивоварни SHEPHERD NEAME велась с 1698 года. Так, по крайней мере, до недавнего времени считал ее владелец. Die Originalrezepte waren chiffriert, damit keine Kopien in die Hände von rivalisierenden Brauereien gelangen konnten.

Der Brauerei-Archivar und Historiker John Owen hatte großen Anteil an dieser Entschlüsselung.

Ein Double Stout wurde bei Shepherd’s Neame das erste Mal 1868 gebraut. An den Braumethoden hat sich seit damals kaum etwas verändert. Am Bemerkenswertesten sind noch die Maischbottiche aus Eiche.

Das Resultat ist ein Bier mit 5,2 % alc. , schwarzglänzend mit einem kräftigen Hopfenaroma(East Kent Goldings Hopfen) und gerösteten Schokoladenaromen. Ein samtweicher Geschmack nach Röstaromen, ergänzt von Kakao- und Kaffeenoten umschmeichelt den Gaumen.

Das India Pale Ale folgte 1870, wie bekannt sind IPA stark gehopfte Biere mit hohem Alkoholgehalt, um die lange Reise zu den Kolonien unbeschadet zu überstehen.

Mit 6,1 % alc. bewahrt dieses IPA die Stärke und den Charakter eines typischen, international bestens bekannten Kultbieres. Es wird im Brauprozess an drei verschiedenen Etappen gehopft, und zwar mit zwei Sorten Hopfen aus Kent, Fuggles und East Kent Goldings. Das Resultat ist ein dunkelgoldenes Ale mit würzigen Fruchtaromen und einer unverwechselbar starken Hopfenbittere.

Die Etiketten zeigen das u.a. das Brauereilogo aus dem 19. Jahrhundert und sind durch Bilder aus dem Archiv der Brauerei inspiriert.

Double Stout, parte de la gama de cervezas Classic Collection de Shepherd Neame, se basa en una receta descubierta en un registro codificado de cerveceros desenterrado en los archivos de la cervecería. Elaborada con una mezcla de cuatro maltas diferentes con un amargor firme, cortesía de lúpulos locales de Kent. Esta Double Stout fue galardonada en los International Brewers Awards 2019, obteniendo el bronce en una de las categorías de cervezas oscuras. La Shepherd Neame Brewery surgió de las restricciones sufridas por el condado de Kent tras finalizar la II Guerra Mundial.   Tras la euforia inicial por la victoria aliada, los años 1940 y 1950 resultaron ser muy complicados, la gente se afanaba por reconstruir sus vidas y volver a la normalidad en medio de muchas carencias y miserias. La malta, al igual que otros alimentos, había sido muy controlada y racionada durante la guerra y el Gobierno trasladó a los cerveceros la idea de que cantidad no era necesariamente igual a calidad.   Por suerte a mediados de los 50 todas estas restricciones cesaron y en 1957 Gordon Ely, de la cervecería Shepherd Neame, recibió la aprobación para producir la primera cerveza de Faversham, una pequeña villa del condado, durante casi 20 años, algo que supuso un gran alivio tras los duros años de la posguerra.
La producción de cerveza en Shepherd Neame es totalmente a mano, usando técnicas probadas y desarrolladas a lo largo de tres siglos, y su control señala que solo puede ser elaborada por el maestro cervecero los viernes, con productos cien por cien naturales, como cebada de Kent y lúpulo Golding de East Kent plantado en la misma propiedad de la cervecería. Asimismo, en su elaboración se usan toneles de mezcla de teca rusa que datan de 1914. Además, el agua empleada la obtienen de un pozo artesano de la propiedad excavado antes de 1889 con 61 metros de profundidad. El agua se extrae a 15 metros por debajo de la cabeza del pozo y aunque se encuentra a tan solo 91 metros del mar, la presión del pozo mantiene el agua salada en la bahía. Intensamente apetecible

Vista: color negro oscuro, de espuma abundante y persistente. Olfato: aromas tostados, café, chocolate y ligeros toques herbales. Gusto: en boca es muy intensa con notas tostadas, café, chocolate, y un final amrgo suave y duradero.
Sensación: cerveza muy cremosa y aterciopelada, intensa y muy bebible. Ideal como acompañamiento para postres dulzones. A pesar de su baja graduación presenta una gran robustez.
