La cervecería Silly recibe su nombre del pueblo valón de Silly, una aldea rural de 1000 habitantes en el que al principio del siglo XX todavía había 19 bares, suministrados por 3 cervecerías. De estas 3, hoy en día solamente queda la Brasserie Silly, que elabora una amplia gama de cervezas tanto de alta como de baja fermentación.
La cervecería Silly, como tantas otras, era originariamente una granja donde, en 1852, se empezó a elaborar cerveza para nutrir a los obreros y trabajadores de la granja.
