The third in Northern Monk’s collaboration series with Glasgow-based artist Smug is a juicy fruitbomb of a Triple IPA.
The monks say “Rapidly establishing itself as one of our headline hop-forward beer series, it felt serendipitous to brew Smug’s third instalment around Hop City, with one of the festival’s most-anticipated breweries, Latvia’s Arpus. Starting with the hops, we went for a US & Australian mix of Citra & Mosaic for that inimitable passion fruit, papaya and melon melee, plus Vic Secret, Enigma, and Galaxy to drive home the dankness. London Fog yeast was used for its ability to handle massive ABVs without breaking a sweat, while contributing some juicy mango esters, while an overcharged oat addition to the malt bill keeps everything extra silky and pillowy.”
