To offset this acidity, some decided to add sugar to it. Thus faro was born. Adding sugar syrup to lambic was a revelation at the time of Bruegel. (Some even argue that without faro, Bruegel would have been deprived of inspiration and would have remained an ordinary amateur painter whose canvases couldn't even have been sold at a flea market.) Until the 19th century, faro was very prevalent in the Brussels region. Folklore there was frequently associated with it, and the divine liquid flowed like water. Then faro fell into oblivion. It was not until 1978 that our family brought it back to centre stage. Or centre Senne, as you prefer. Particularly appreciated after physical exertion, faro is not only easy to drink, it is a joy to do so.

Pour compenser cette acidité, certains décidèrent d’y ajouter du sucre. C’est ainsi qu’est né le Faro-Lambic. L’ajout de sucre candi au lambic fut une révélation du temps de Brueghel. (Certains avancent même que, sans Faro-Lambic, Brueghel aurait été privé d’inspiration et serait resté un vulgaire peintre du dimanche dont les croutes n’auraient même pas trouvé acquéreur au marché aux puces.) Jusqu’au 19ème siècle, le Faro-Lambic était très répandu dans la région bruxelloise. Le folklore y était fréquemment associé et le divin liquide coulait à flots. Le Faro-Lambic tomba ensuite dans l’oubli. Il fallut attendre 1978 pour que notre famille la ramène sur le devant de la scène. Ou de la Senne, c’est comme on veut. Particulièrement apprécié après l’effort, un Faro-Lambic se boit sans effort. Et avec beaucoup de plaisir.

La bière Lindemans Faro 75 cl est un style de bière né suite à la généralisations de comportements anciens qui consistaient à ajouter du sucre à une bière de type gueuze. Cela permettait d'adoucir ces bières, aigre-douces à l'habitude.
C'est une bière de blé (froment), de fermentation spontanée et au goût aigre-doux parfaitement équilibré par l'ajout d'une dose supplémentaire de sucre candi. Elle présente une robe de couleur rouge-orangée qui se surmonte d'une fine couche de mousse blanche.
Cette bière révèle des arômes boisés et aigre-doux de fruits, de fruits secs, de caramel et de sucre candi. On retrouve en bouche une pointe d'acidité qui s'accompagne de saveurs douces et sucrées de fruits, ainsi que de légères touches boisées.
Elle a été relancée en 1978 par la brasserie Lindemans.
La Faro accompagne sans problème de nombreux desserts grâce à son goût sucré et à sa légèreté.

Lindemans Faro ist fast zu vergleichen mit einer Gueuze. Ein junges Lambic wird mit einem älteren gereiften Lambic verschnitten. Während der zweiten Gärung in der Flasche wird dem Bier noch Kandiszucker hinzugeben. Dadurch entwickelt sich zusätzlich eine leichte Süße im Geschmack, die Kenner lieben.

Lambic Biere sind spontanvergorene Biere, die in der Gegend rund um Brüssel produziert werden. Hier wird nicht von obergärig oder untergärig gesprochen. Das Bier lagert in offenen Gärbottichen und wartet auf die beginnende Gärung, die durch bestimmte Hefepilze, die in der Gegend rund um Brüssel konzentriert vorkommen, stattfindet.
