O ur take on th e Belgian golden strong style uses the same distinctive yeast which ironically originates from Scotland . Duvel harvested th is yeast culture from bottles of McEwans scotch ale in 1918 . The return of this yeast to a Scottish brewery is therefore well overdue. In this Scottish homage to the style , we utilised Golden Promise malt , plain beet sugar and hibiscus. The flavour profile from the yeast provides intense fruity este r s with pear, apple and spice. The hibiscus adds a touch of citrus/ berry fruit and an intense reddish pink hue .
