Пивоварня Hacker-Pschorr гордится своей историей, насчитывающей более шести сотен лет. В 1417 году появились первые документированные упоминания о пивоварне Hacker, расположенной на перекрестке улиц Зендлингер и Хакштрасе в Мюнхене. Сейчас в этом доме располагается ресторан Altes Hackerhaus, в котором часто собираются поклонники пива Хакер-Пшорр.
В 1793 году 23-летний слуга Йозеф Пшорр женился на Марии Терезе, дочери владельца пивоварни Hacker — Петера Пола Хакера. Со временем зять перенял семейное дело тестя. Вкладывая в пивоварню все свои силы на протяжении 15 лет, Йозеф вывел ее из маленького предприятия в один из крупнейших мюнхенских пивоваренных заводов того времени. В 1813 году Пшорр возвел свой знаменитый “пивной форт” — самый большой в Германии подвал для хранения пива. Этот подвал до сих пор поражает размерами: на глубине 12 метров под землей расположены 13 тыс. кв. м площади, вмещающие около 30 тыс. бочек пива.
В 1820 году Пшорр приобрел Bauerhansl Brauhaus и другие здания на Нойхаузерштрасе и возвел на их месте пивоварню Pschorr. В 1841 году Пивной король, как к тому времени называли Йозефа Пшорра, скончался. Его мраморный бюст до сих пор находится в Зале славы Баварии на Theresienhohe в Мюнхене. Пивоварня же перешла во владение сыновей Йозефа — Георга и Маттиаса. Братья поделили производство между собой: Георг взял завод Пшорр, а Маттиас — Хакер. Произведенное пиво они поставляли железной дорогой во многие страны Европы. В 1864 году у Йозефины Пшорр и ее супруга Франца Штрауса родился ребенок, который впоследствии стал знаменитым композитором Рихардом Штраусом. Георг Пшорр, ставший крестным отцом мальчика, всячески поддерживал его и оплатил обучение музыкальному искусству. В благодарность за это спустя годы Штраус посвятил свое произведение "Der Rosenkavalier" родственникам по линии Пшорр.
Георг Пшорр-младший принял правление пивоварней в том же 1864 году. Он построил новый пивоваренный завод, оснащенный по последнему слову техники. Пивоварня Пшорр стала полноценной индустриальной компанией. В 1876 году ее пиво завоевало медаль на Всемирной выставке в Филадельфии. На протяжении последующих 70 лет пивоварни Хакер и Пшорр переживали одни и те же потрясения: гиперинфляцию, две мировые войны, нацистский режим и бомбардировки. Поскольку бомбы значительно повредили оба завода, уцелевшие мощности были объединены, и две пивоварни производили продукцию бок о бок. В 1972 году, оправившись от потрясений ХХ века, Хакер и Пшорр вновь объединились в одну компанию Hacker-Pschorr Brau Aktiengesellschaft. На бутылках их пива соседствуют оригинальные логотипы обеих пивоварен. В 1979 году большинство акций компании выкупил мюнхенский бизнесмен Йозеф Шёргубер. С 1993 года пиво "Хакер-Пшорр" производится на мощностях завода Paulaner.
