La Gentse Strop è la belgian ale prodotta da Brouwerij Roman, una delle ultime produzioni del birrificio fiammingo. Dal colore giallo dorato e dotata di una ricca schiuma bianca poco persistente, questa ale sprigiona note fruttate di mela, banana e agrumi, completate dai sentori maltati di pane e miele. Le note erbacee accompagnano le note dolci e fruttate percepibili in bocca, seguite da un amaro lungo e deciso. Birra dal corpo medio e dalla media carbonazione, la Gentse Strop è un omaggio agli stroppendragers, i cittadini di Gand che nel 1540 si ribellarono a Carlo V. L’atto di ribellione impose ai cittadini di girare in città con un cappio al collo, che simboleggia nell’etichetta della birra.

La belgian ale rappresenta una grande famiglia di birre della tradizione brassicola belga. E’ una birra chiara che può avere molto sfaccettature: corpo medio, buona carbonazione e ottimo equilibrio sono caratteristiche comuni.

Brouwerij Roman è un birrificio belga con sede a Oudenaarde, nelle Fiandre Orientali, sul fiume Schelda. Il birrificio Roman ha una storia plurisecolare alle spalle: fondato nel 1545 da Joos Roman, continua ad essere di proprietà della famiglia Roman. Attualmente Carlo e Lode sono infatti alla guida di Brouwerij Roman, rappresentando la 14° generazione Roman.

L’originario birrificio nasce all’interno della locanda De Clocke, situata nel quartiere Mater di Oudenaarde, dove la famiglia Roman produceva birra ad uso interno. In seguito la famiglia Roman decide di puntare decisamente sulla birra, facendone l’attività principale.L’attuale produzione di Roman include le Roman (pils, blanche e premium pils), Ename (pater, blond, dubbel, rouge, tripel), Strop (gentse e rebelse) Adriaen (Brouwer, Brouwer Tripel e Brouwer Oaked), Sloeber (SLoeber e Sloeber IPA) e Ramon, unica birra prodotta in lattina.

Le birre di Brouwerij Roman sono apprezzate sia in patria che all’estero: tra i premi vinti spiccano le medaglie d’oro e argento al World Beer Awards 2020 Belgium.

In 1540 there was an Emperor Charles who wanted to strip the people of Ghent. The proud inhabitants of Ghent did not want to pay, so they had to walk through the streets with a noose around their neck. Although they have been reduced in size, their Ghent fighting spirit still lives on.

Brouwerij Roman

Une bière claire de couleur dorée avec une tête blanche mousseuse. Arôme d'eau sucrée, de malt, de fruits, d'agrumes et de houblon herbacé. Le goût est modérément doux, modérément amer avec un final moyennement sec. Notes de caramel, de malt pâle, de houblon, d'agrumes et léger zeste d'orange.

Gentse Strop est une bière artisanale de fermentation haute fabriquée par la brasserie Roman. Son nom vient d'un sobriquet donné aux fiers Gantois suite à la révolte contre leur empereur en 1540 : “stroppendragers” ou “porteurs de corde”. C'est une bière subtilement houblonnée aux accents fruités.

UNE BIÈRE TRÈS ÉQUILIBRÉE.

Gentse Strop is een Blond bier van hoge gisting, welke na gist op de fles. Het bier heeft fruitige kenmerken en een subtiele hopsmaak.Het bier dankt zijn naam aan de Gentenaren die in opstand kwamen tegen de oorlogszuchtige Keizer Karel. Deze liet de opstandelingen gekleed in een toga met een strop om de nek door de stad lopen.
