Zeta Zendra
Zeta Zendra is a sophisticated winter lager that reimagines the traditional Rauchbier through a Rye Bock lens. Its sensory profile is defined by a brilliant copper hue and exceptional clarity. On the nose, it offers a refined tapestry of soft wood smoke intertwined with toasty malt and a subtle, spicy rye kick. The palate follows with a rich, bready sweetness balanced by a delicate peppery note from the rye, while the smoke remains smooth and integrated rather than acrid. Despite its warming 7.8% ABV, the finish remains remarkably clean and medium-dry, showcasing a masterful balance between malt complexity, rye spice, and drinkability.
Appearance. Brilliant, crystalline copper to deep amber. Topped with a dense, creamy, tan head that exhibits excellent retention and fine lacing.
Aroma. Moderate intensity featuring a harmonious blend of refined wood smoke and rich, toasty malt. A distinctive peppery spice from the rye is evident, supported by a clean lager fermentation profile and an absence of hop aroma.
Taste. Initial impressions of deeply toasty, bready malt richness are followed by a gentle, supportive smoke character. The rye addition contributes a noticeable spicy complexity that cuts through the malt weight. Bitterness is moderate and well-balanced, leading to a clean, lingering finish where smoke and spice persist without acridity.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate. A noticeable but pleasant alcohol warmth is present, reflecting its winter-inspired strength without any harshness or astringency.
