This Hazy IPA celebrates New Zealand terroir with a vibrant, fruit-forward profile. A duet of Motueka and Rakau hops drives a complex aromatic performance, blending bright citrus and succulent ripe pineapple with lush stone fruit notes of apricot and mango. The sensory experience is reminiscent of a tropical symphony, where the high hop intensity is supported by a soft, bready malt backbone. It pours with a characteristic opaque glow and a persistent white head. Despite its moderate strength, it offers a full-flavored, juicy impact that balances a delicate sweetness against a smooth, restrained bitterness, finishing with a lingering, clean fruit essence.
Appearance. Luminous straw to light gold with a deep, opaque haze and a characteristic 'shine'. Crowned by a dense, rocky, meringue-like white head with excellent retention and fine-beaded lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring a complex blend of tropical and stone fruits. Pronounced notes of ripe apricot and mango from the Rakau hops intertwine with zesty lime and lemon citrus cues from Motueka. A supporting background of clean, grainy, and lightly bready malt is present, with neutral fermentation esters that allow the New Zealand hops to remain the focus.
Taste. The initial impression is an explosion of juicy tropical fruit, specifically pineapple and fleshy apricot. Hop flavors are very high, mirroring the aroma's citrus and stone fruit complexity. Malt character is low but provides a soft, bready foundation. Bitterness is moderate and smooth, never harsh, allowing for an off-dry, fruit-laden finish. The aftertaste lingers with a pleasant, clean mango essence.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a notably soft and smooth texture, likely enhanced by flaked grains. Carbonation is moderate. There is a gentle, light alcohol warmth consistent with its strength, and a total absence of astringency or hop-derived harshness.
