The result is a well-attenuated, dry-finishing ale that balances assertive bitterness with exotic fruit and botanical flair.
Appearance. Deep golden to light copper with a distinct pink or salmon-colored hue from the hibiscus. Generally clear, though it may exhibit a slight haze from fruit solids. Features a persistent, off-white to pale pink head with fine lacing.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Pronounced ripe mango and tropical fruit aromas meld seamlessly with floral, perfume-like hibiscus notes. Supporting bready malt and subtle earthy or spicy English hop character anchor the botanical elements.
Taste. An initial rush of mango sweetness is quickly followed by a tangy, floral hibiscus note. Hop bitterness is moderate to firm, providing a necessary counterpoint to the fruit. Malt flavors of biscuit and toasted bread emerge in the mid-palate to provide body. The finish is medium-dry and crisp with a lingering mango skin and floral bitterness that avoids being harsh.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light to medium body with a smooth texture. Moderate carbonation provides a crisp, refreshing sensation on the tongue. Very low, well-integrated alcohol warmth with no noticeable astringency from the hibiscus petals.
