Berliner Weisse 4.2 º 8 IBU
Yria Bearliner Weisse presents a sharp, refreshing interpretation of the classic Berliner Weisse. It leads with a bold, clean lactic acidity that aligns with the brewer’s intent of a fresh yet aggressive profile. Bracing notes of lemon zest and tart green apple dominate the palate, supported by an underlying soft, doughy wheat character reminiscent of fresh sourdough bread. Effervescent and extremely dry, it lacks any hop bitterness, relying instead on its bright acidity for balance. Subtle floral hints and a crisp, light-bodied finish make it an invigorating, high-intensity sour ale that pushes the boundaries of the style's typical strength.
Appearance. Very pale straw (2-3 SRM) with a slight haze. Topped by a large, dense white head with poor retention, common for the style. Highly effervescent with active carbonation.
Aroma. High intensity of sharp lactic sourness. Dominant notes of lemon and tart apple with a supporting raw bread dough malt character. Subtle floral esters are present, but no hop aroma or funk is detectable.
Taste. Clean, strong lactic sourness dominates from the start. A complementary bready and grainy wheat flavor provides a lean malt backbone. Features bright fruitiness resembling citrus and unripe peach. Finishes very dry with no detectable hop bitterness; balance is entirely driven by acidity.
Mouthfeel. Light body with a crisp, refreshing quality. Very high carbonation provides a prickly effervescence. Sharp acidity is prominent, though there is no perceived alcohol warmth despite the slightly higher gravity.
