This massive Experimental Mead offers an opulent sensory journey, showcasing the interplay between rich honey and twelve months of bourbon barrel aging. At a staggering 23% ABV, the profile is dominated by decadent notes of wildflower honey, Madagascar vanilla, and toasted coconut derived from the wood. The bourbon influence introduces deep layers of caramel and charred oak, while the extended maturation provides a smooth, albeit powerful, alcoholic warmth. This is a viscous, slow-sipping nectar where the sweetness of the honey base is tempered by the tannins of the barrel, resulting in a complex, lingering finish of toffee and spiritous heat.

Appearance. Deep amber to burnished copper in color. The liquid is brilliant and still, exhibiting very thick, slow-moving legs on the glass wall, indicating exceptionally high alcohol and sugar content. No foam or head is present.

Aroma. High intensity and complex. Dominant aromas of rich, floral honey are layered with prominent bourbon-derived notes of vanilla, oak, and spicy wood. Subtle oxidative notes of dried apricots and golden raisins emerge, backed by a significant but clean ethanol presence that suggests depth.

Taste. Initial impression is one of intense honey sweetness and luxurious viscosity. The mid-palate reveals complex flavors of vanilla bean, caramel, and toasted oak from the bourbon barrels. Bitterness is absent, but barrel tannins provide necessary structure to the honey character. The finish is very long and warming, with lingering notes of toffee and spirit.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and highly viscous, bordering on syrupy. Carbonation is absent. Significant alcohol warmth is present, providing a coating, velvety sensation across the tongue. No harsh astringency is noted despite the high ABV.
