Blokequet is an incredibly light, session-strength American Pale Ale that presents a unique sensory intersection of tea and hops. Pouring a hazy pale gold, it leads with an expressive aromatic profile derived from Earl Grey blue flowers, offering distinct notes of bergamot and white wine spice. These floral tea qualities harmonize with a tropical and citrus hop character, featuring bright orange zest and soft fruit undertones. Despite its low alcohol content, the beer maintains a soft mouthfeel and intentionally scant bitterness, ensuring the delicate floral and citrus flavors remain the focal point through a clean, refreshing finish.
Appearance. Hazy pale gold (approx. 5 SRM) with a moderately large, creamy white head that exhibits good retention and light lacing.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity featuring prominent bergamot and floral tea notes from the Earl Grey blue flowers. Supporting hop aromas of orange citrus, tropical fruit, and a touch of white wine spice are balanced by a low, grainy, neutral malt base. Fermentation is clean with very low fruity esters.
Taste. The initial impression is defined by bright citrus and a unique bergamot tea flavor. Malt character is low and bready, providing a lean foundation for the floral and spice notes to emerge. Bitterness is low and restrained, significantly lower than traditional style examples. The finish is clean and slightly dry, with a lingering aftertaste of orange zest and floral spice.
Mouthfeel. Light to medium-light body with a soft, smooth texture. Carbonation is moderate to high, providing a refreshing prickle without any alcohol warmth or astringency.
