Yakka Weizenbock delivers a robust sensory experience that marries the refreshing characteristics of a wheat beer with the profound malt depth of a strong dark lager. At 7.5% ABV, this Weizenbock is defined by a significant bready and grainy wheat malt richness, providing a sturdy backbone for its expressive fermentation profile. In alignment with the brewer's focus on plátano and clavo, the palate is led by high-intensity esters of ripe banana and spicy clove. Subtle Maillard-driven toasty notes and hints of dark fruit add complexity, while a signature fluffy, creamy texture and gentle alcohol warmth ensure a smooth, lingering finish.
Appearance. Dark amber to deep ruby-brown color (15-25 SRM). Features a very thick, moussy, long-lasting light tan head with excellent lacing. Appearance is hazy with a characteristic yeast-induced shine.
Aroma. High intensity. Significant bready and grainy wheat malt richness with toasted accents. Powerful yeast-derived esters of ripe banana and spicy clove phenolics. Low to moderate alcohol presence is noticeable but smooth. No hop aroma.
Taste. Initial impression is of rich, bready wheat and toasty malt sweetness. Dominant flavors of banana and clove spice provide complexity. Low hop bitterness keeps the balance toward the malt, though the beer finishes relatively dry. Light dark fruit notes like plum or raisin may be present. No hop flavor.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full to full body with a soft, smooth, and fluffy or creamy texture. High carbonation provides a lively mouth-filling sensation. Noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth.
