Shadow Fuel is a formidable Imperial Coffee Stout that commands attention with its deep, espresso-driven intensity. The foundation is built upon a substantial grist of Barley Malt and Oats, which provides a viscous, silk-like texture to support the massive 11% ABV. Rich aromas of freshly roasted coffee beans intermingle with dark chocolate and charred grain. On the palate, the coffee takes center stage, offering earthy and bittersweet notes that harmonize with the velvety, full-bodied mouthfeel provided by the oats. A warming alcohol presence emerges in the finish, alongside a persistent roasted bitterness that ensures this complex brew remains balanced and profoundly dark.

Appearance. Opaque, midnight black (40+ SRM). Persistent, thick, mocha-colored head with excellent lacing and strong retention.

Aroma. High intensity. Bold aroma of freshly ground dark-roast coffee dominates, layered over rich dark chocolate, molasses, and toasted Barley Malt. Subtle dark fruit esters like plum and a clean, warming alcohol presence are detectable. Low earthy hop character.

Taste. Initial impact of bittersweet cocoa and espresso. The malt profile is deeply roasted with notes of burnt sugar and caramel. The mid-palate reveals the smoothing effect of Oats, tempering the roast. Bitterness is firm, derived from both hops and dark grains, balancing the residual malty sweetness. Finishes long and warming with a lingering roasted coffee aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and viscous; exceptionally creamy and smooth due to the addition of Oats. Moderate-low carbonation. Significant but well-integrated alcohol warmth. Minimal grain astringency.
