Crush Landing is a vibrant American Pale Ale that showcases a modern, hop-forward profile through a strategic blend of Cryo Citra, Belma, and Strata. The Cryo Citra provides an intense, clean citrus foundation of grapefruit and lime, while the dry-hopping additions of Belma and Strata introduce nuanced layers of sweet strawberry, melon, and pungent passion fruit with a hint of herbal dankness. Despite the slightly elevated ABV, the beer maintains high drinkability with a supportive, neutral grainy malt backbone. This collaboration finishes dry and crisp, emphasizing a firm but clean bitterness that allows the complex tropical and berry hop characteristics to linger elegantly on the palate.
Appearance. Deep gold to pale amber with brilliant clarity. Topped by a moderately large, creamy white head with excellent retention and persistent lacing.
Aroma. Moderately high intensity featuring bright grapefruit and citrus zest from Cryo Citra, complemented by distinct notes of strawberry and melon from Belma. Subtle tropical passion fruit and a slight resinous dankness from Strata emerge as it warms. Malt is low and neutral, presenting as fresh bread or cracker.
Taste. Initial punch of citrus and tropical fruit follows the aroma, with Strata's passion fruit and Belma's berry notes taking center stage. A firm but smooth bitterness provides balance against a clean, grainy malt base. The fermentation profile is very clean, leading to a dry, crisp finish where floral and citrus hop oils linger without harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, soft texture. Carbonation is moderate to high, providing a refreshing prickle on the tongue. Very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present given the strength.
