Upstream Colour is a vibrant American Pale Ale that leans into modern hop expression with a dense, oat-driven foundation. High-intensity aromatics of mango and passionfruit from Galaxy and Citra dominate the nose, elevated by the use of Galaxy Spectrum and Citra LUPO for maximum impact. These meet the candied orange and stone fruit notes provided by Talus. The palate is a complex fruit salad of lychee and lemon citrus, supported by a neutral, grainy malt base. Despite its punchy hop profile, the finish remains gentle and refreshing. A heavy addition of oats creates a lush, creamy texture that carries the tropical layers through a soft, lingering finish.
Appearance. Pale golden (approx. 6 SRM). Opaque and hazy with a moderately large, creamy white head that exhibits excellent retention and thick lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring a tropical fruit salad of passionfruit, mango, and lychee. Distinct citrus notes of lemon and candied orange are present, with a subtle floral and stone fruit background. Malt is low and neutral with a slight grainy, oat-like sweetness.
Taste. Punchy hop-forward flavors of mango, passionfruit, and lemon citrus. A mid-palate complexity of lychee and stone fruit emerges from the Galaxy and Talus. Moderate hop bitterness provides balance without being sharp. The finish is refreshing and clean with lingering tropical fruit and a soft, bready malt sweetness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notable lush, dense, and creamy texture derived from a high oat grist. Carbonation is soft and moderate, providing a smooth delivery without any hop astringency or alcohol warmth.
