Working Title Brew Co Nightcrawler
Nightcrawler presents a clean-fermented take on the Black IPA, utilizing a lean base to showcase an intense hop profile. The use of fresh Columbus, Chinook, and Beedelup hops creates a potent sensory experience of resinous pine, damp earth, and zesty grapefruit. The malt backbone is supportive and restrained, offering whispers of dry chocolate and soft caramel without the weight of a stout. On the palate, vibrant lime citrus and stone fruit collide with herbal white pepper and floral notes of petunia. A brisk, punchy bitterness and a subtle saline minerality define the crisp, dry finish, ensuring high drinkability despite its robust strength.
Appearance. Opaque black with deep mahogany highlights (SRM 38). Topped with a persistent, light tan, creamy head that leaves thick lacing. High clarity with no visible turbidity.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by dank resin, pine, and citrus. Fresh-cut grass and herbal stone fruit are prominent, supported by a very low malt profile of toasted bread and light cocoa. Fermentation is extremely clean.
Taste. Initial burst of grapefruit and pine followed by complex herbal notes and stone fruit. Restrained chocolate and soft caramel provide a backbone without being burnt or ashy. Distinct hop flavors of lime and white pepper emerge mid-palate. Finishes very dry with a firm, punchy bitterness and a slight saline character.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture. Moderate carbonation provides a lively mouthfeel. Noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth. No astringency from the dark malts.
