Working Title Brew Co Anchorman
Anchorman is a sophisticated nod to the San Diego evolution of the American IPA, balancing aggressive aromatics with a drinkable, modern structure. An intense bouquet of Simcoe, Amarillo, Citra, and Galaxy hops unleashes a sensory wonderland of resinous pine, bright citrus, and tropical fruit. While it honors the West Coast tradition, the palate is refined with a supportive malty body and a unique saline mid-palate that enhances flavor perception. At 7.5% ABV, it provides a clean, warming presence without overwhelming the senses. The experience concludes with a crisp, dry finish, trading abrasive bitterness for high-impact hop saturation and effortless drinkability.
Appearance. Color is a deep gold to light amber (approx. 8-10 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a medium-sized, off-white head featuring excellent persistence and fine-beaded lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent resinous pine from Simcoe and tropical passion fruit and peach notes from Galaxy and Amarillo. Bright grapefruit and lime zest from Citra provides a sharp top note, supported by a low, clean, bready malt character and neutral fermentation profile.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward with vibrant layers of mango, melon, and citrus peel. A firm, medium-high hop bitterness is present but refined, supported by a low-to-medium bready malt backbone. A distinctive saline mid-palate adds complexity before yielding to a dry, lingering finish of pine resin and citrus oils.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily hop texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a crisp, refreshing bite. A gentle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present without any harshness.
