This sessionable take on the Belgian Single offers a remarkably vibrant profile for its low alcohol stature. The sensory experience is defined by a big hop hit featuring citrus, tropical fruit, and hedgerow berry notes, which intertwine with traditional monastic yeast esters of pear and apple. A supportive, grainy-sweet malt base provides honeyed biscuit and crackery layers, balancing the spicy, peppery phenolic character. Highly carbonated and well-attenuated, the beer finishes with a crisp, gentle bitterness and a very dry palate. It is an aromatically charged table beer that maintains a satisfyingly full-bodied presence despite its modest alcohol content.
Appearance. Pale yellow to medium gold in color (3-5 SRM). Generally clear with a moderate, billowy, and persistent white head that leaves characteristic lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Moderate intensity featuring a complex blend of fruity-spicy Belgian yeast and modern hop character. Aromas of grapefruit, lemon, and tropical fruit are present, alongside spicy phenols reminiscent of black pepper. A low crackery and grainy malt backdrop provides a light honey-like sweetness.
Taste. The initial impression is of soft, honeyed biscuit and bready malt followed by an aggressive hop presence. Flavors of citrus, tropical fruit, and wild berries transition into a spicy and floral character. The fermentation profile adds notes of pear and pepper. It concludes with a crisp, dry, and hoppy-bitter finish where the yeast and hop character linger.
Mouthfeel. Light to medium-light body, though notably satisfying for its low alcohol content. Highly carbonated and somewhat prickly on the tongue. Smooth finish with no perceived alcohol warmth.
