This Ordinary Bitter is a vibrant, sessionable showcase of modern citrus-forward hops. Aromas of tangerine and candied orange peel from Mandarina Bavaria and Amarillo lead the profile, supported by the tropical depth of El Dorado and Idaho 7. The grain bill features malted rye, which introduces a subtle, peppery spice that complements the zesty citrus peel character. Despite its low gravity, the beer maintains a firm Seville orange bitterness, balancing a bready malt base. It finishes crisp and dry, offering high drinkability with a complex layer of citrus oils and a gentle, spiced background character that lingers briefly on the palate.

Appearance. Pale amber to light copper with brilliant clarity. Pours with a moderate, off-white head that shows fair retention and leaves light lacing.

Aroma. Moderate to high intensity citrus hop aroma featuring notes of tangerine, orange zest, and a hint of tropical fruit. Low bready malt character is present, enhanced by a distinct but subtle peppery spice from the malted rye. Low fruity esters.

Taste. Initial impression is of zesty citrus and candied orange peel. Moderately high bitterness, reminiscent of Seville oranges, provides a firm structure. The hop flavors of Mandarina Bavaria and Amarillo dominate the mid-palate, while the malted rye adds a light, spicy complexity. Finishes dry and clean with a lingering citrus oil aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Light body with moderate carbonation. Alcohol warmth is non-existent given the 3.2% ABV. Very low astringency from the citrus peel and rye, contributing to a crisp, refreshing mouthfeel.
